Our story

I've been on the other side of this phone.

Eighteen years in and around the trades — hiring contractors, running crews, general contracting, and doing plenty of the work myself. Electrical. Plumbing. Framing. Auto.

So I know what it looks like when the phone rings and both your hands are busy. I know what it's like to finish a ten-hour day and then sit down at the kitchen table to write estimates, while somebody in the other room asks why you're still working.

I know the job you signed up for. And I know the other one — the one nobody warned you about, that showed up the day you started working for yourself and quietly ate your evenings.

Nobody gets into the trades because they wanted to answer phones. You got into it because you're good with your hands, or because you liked fixing what other people couldn't, or because you were done working for somebody who didn't know what he was doing. Then you started your own thing and found out that being good at the work is maybe a third of the job.

That's the job Forged Engine takes off your plate.

Most of the companies selling AI to trade businesses have never held the tools. You can hear it in how they talk — "solutions," "workflows," "transform your operations." They'll sell you software, hand you a login, and leave you to figure it out on a Sunday night. That's not a service. That's a subscription with extra steps.

We do it the other way. We set it up, we run it, and we'll show you it working on a real business before you spend a dollar. There's a phone number on this site that answers on the second ring and books real appointments on a real calendar. Go call it. Nobody else in this business will let you do that, and there's a reason.

Success shouldn't only mean more money. It should mean more life — more time doing what you're actually good at, with the people you'd rather be with.

What eighteen years teaches you

Three things I didn't learn from a webinar.

01

The lead you miss is the expensive one

Not the job you underbid. The call at 4:40 on a Friday that went to voicemail while you were tightening a fitting, and by Monday they'd already had somebody out. That call cost more than a bad estimate ever did.

02

Owners don't quit over money

They burn out over the paperwork, the scheduling, the chasing. The part of the business that has nothing to do with the craft and never stops. Fix that and the money usually sorts itself out.

03

If you have to manage it, it's not help

Another dashboard is another chore. Anything we build has to run without you thinking about it, or it hasn't actually taken anything off your plate.

Who this is for

Honestly, most shops. But especially:

  • Owner-operators who are still the best tech in the company and also somehow the receptionist.
  • Shops of two to fifteen where the phone is a genuine bottleneck and there's no full-time front desk.
  • Owners who stepped off the tools and now spend their day on scheduling instead of growing the thing.
  • Anybody paying for leads they're not answering. That one's just math.

Who it isn't for

I'd rather say it now than six weeks in.

  • Anybody looking for the cheapest possible AI answering service. That's not what this is, and there are plenty of them.
  • Shops that want to buy software and run it themselves. We're the ones running it — that's the whole product.
  • Anybody who wants to fire their office staff on day one. That's not the pitch and I'll talk you out of it.
  • Businesses with no phone problem. If your phone's covered and your follow-up is tight, keep your money.

One person. On purpose.

Forged Engine is me, and a system I built and know every inch of. That's a real tradeoff and I'd rather name it than dress it up.

It means I only take on so many shops at a time. It also means the person who built your setup is the person who answers when something's off — not a support queue, not a rep who started in March and has never seen a shop.

It's the same reason you'd rather hire the guy who shows up himself than the outfit that sends whoever's free.
